The Oktoberfest is originally a German festival that comes from the city of Munich. It was created in 1810 to honour the wedding of King Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen Edinburgh decided then to organise a similar party, (because Scottish people also like to drink beer!). For one week in October, Princes street gardens will look like the Oktoberfest in Munich, with Schlager music, Lederhosen und Dirndl and, of course, lots of beer!

Date: October, 5th to 9th 2016

Time: Wednesday to Friday, 16:00-23:00, Saturday, 11:30-23:30, Sunday, 12:30-19:30

Price: There is free admission Wednesday. Thursday and Sunday there will be a £5 entrance fee and on Friday and Saturday a £10 entrance fee

Place: Princes Street Gardens West (Red Square)
